What Does an Audiologist do During a Hearing Aid Fitting?
Once you and your audiologist have determined which style of hearing aids will be best for you, our team will make sure they fit properly and are comfortable. Depending on the type of device you’ve selected, your audiologist may create a custom mold of your ear to ensure your technology is comfortable and effective.
Next, your hearing aids will be programmed based on your hearing loss and lifestyle needs. You’ll try them on to see if they fit and if the programming works for you. Every hearing loss patient has unique needs, and we want to be sure the device will allow you to hear as many sounds as possible.
Once the hearing aids have been fit for you, our provider will discuss care and maintenance for them. Topics will include:
- Communication strategies
- Correct usage
- Adjusting for different environments
- Changing batteries
- Cleaning your devices
Healthcare is Easier as a Team Effort
After your initial audiologist appointment, our team will continue to work with you. We’ll have a follow-up session several weeks later to discuss how your hearing aids are working and any questions you might have. We’ll also troubleshoot any issues that have arisen and share additional tips for adjusting to new sounds.
